Bring us an idea, a sketch or a stone you already own. Our bench jewellers design and make the piece here in George Town, often before you fly home.

Made On Island

Designed With You, Made In Our Workshop

Most jewellery shops send custom work away and make you wait months. We do not. IDC has a working bench in the George Town showroom, so the person who quotes your piece is a few steps from the person who makes it. You describe what you want at the counter, we sketch it with you, and the work starts here on the island.

Custom does not have to mean starting from a blank page. Plenty of visitors bring an heirloom, a ring that no longer fits or a stone from a piece they never wear, and we remount it in a new setting in 14-carat or 18-carat gold or platinum. Others start with one of our GIA-certified diamonds or a coloured stone from the case and build the design around it. Either way you approve the design before any metal is cut.

Because Grand Cayman is duty-free, a bespoke piece made here usually costs well under what the same commission would run at home. Many designs are finished while visitors are still on island, and for larger jobs we ship the finished piece to you. If you are here on a cruise, come in early in the day and we will tell you honestly what can be done in the time you have.

Every piece starts as a conversation at the counter and ends at the bench in George Town.

Custom Rings

Engagement rings, dress rings and remounts built around your stone or one of ours. We work in 14-carat and 18-carat gold and platinum, and you approve the design before we start.

Heirloom Redesign

Bring a piece you inherited but never wear. We reuse the stones and often the metal, and turn it into something you will actually put on.

Custom Pendants

A stone you picked on holiday, an initial, a shape that means something to you. Pendants are our quickest commissions and are often ready within days.

Repairs & Resizing

Not everything custom is new. Our bench handles resizing, retipping, polishing and stone replacement while you wait or within the day.

Good to Know

How long does a custom piece take?

Simple commissions like pendants and remounts are often finished in a few days, and many visitors collect before they fly home. Complex pieces take longer, and if you leave the island first we ship the finished piece to you. Tell us your dates and we will give you a straight answer on timing.

Can you work with my own stones or old jewellery?

Yes, that is a large part of what our bench does. We remount inherited stones, rework rings that no longer fit and reuse gold where the design allows. Bring the piece to the George Town showroom and we will look at it with you.

Is custom jewellery cheaper in Grand Cayman?

Usually, yes. The Cayman Islands are duty-free, so there is no import duty or sales tax built into the price, and the making is done in-house rather than sent abroad. On gold and diamond work the difference against home prices is often significant.

I am visiting on a cruise. Is there time for custom work?

Sometimes. Small jobs like resizing or setting a stone in a stock mount can be done the same day. For a full commission we design with you in person, then finish the piece and ship it, or have it ready if you are staying on island.

Do I need an appointment for custom work?

No. Walk in to the showroom on the George Town waterfront, a short walk from the cruise pier. If you want longer with a designer, call ahead and we will set time aside for you.
