Vintage Engagement Rings in Grand Cayman

Milgrain, filigree and old-world detail, made new by hand at our George Town workshop.

Old Soul, New Ring

Detail Worth a Second Look

Vintage-inspired rings borrow the details that made older jewellery worth keeping. Milgrain, the row of tiny beads along an edge. Filigree, fine threads of gold worked into open patterns. Engraved shoulders, scalloped galleries, and the geometry of the Art Deco years. These rings reward a second look in a way that plainer settings do not, and they suit people who want a ring that feels like it has a history even on its first day.

Because they are newly made, you get the character without the compromises of a hundred-year-old ring. The claws are fresh, the shank is full thickness, and the centre stone is a modern GIA-certified diamond with the light performance old mine cuts cannot match. Everything is sized and finished at our own bench in George Town, so the fine detail is done properly rather than worn flat.

The workshop also recreates heirlooms. If your grandmother's ring is too fragile to wear, or a family ring needs to exist twice for two siblings, bring it in or bring photographs. Our jewellers rebuild the design in new gold or platinum, set the original stones if they are sound, and hand back a ring that carries the story without the fragility. All of it tax-free, with no duty or sales tax added in Cayman.

The Details

What Makes a Ring Vintage

Four kinds of detail our bench jewellers work into vintage-style rings, each visible in the cases at George Town.

Milgrain Edges

A beaded border of tiny gold dots along the band and bezel. It softens edges, catches light and instantly reads as antique, even on a brand-new ring.

Filigree Work

Openwork patterns of fine gold thread in the gallery and shoulders. Filigree lightens the ring visually and gives it lace-like detail from the side.

Art Deco Lines

Strong geometry, stepped settings and baguette accents in the style of the 1920s and 30s. Suits emerald cuts and anyone who prefers structure to softness.

Heirloom Recreations

We rebuild a family ring from the original or from photographs, reusing the stones where they are sound. The sentiment survives, the fragility does not.

Questions

Good to Know

Are these antique rings or new rings?
They are new rings made in vintage styles. You get the milgrain, filigree and old-world proportions with fresh claws, a full-thickness band and a GIA-certified modern diamond. That combination wears daily for decades in a way most genuine antiques cannot.
Can you recreate my grandmother's ring?
Yes, this is regular work for our George Town bench. Bring the ring or clear photographs and our jewellers rebuild the design in new gold or platinum, resetting the original stones if they are sound. It is a popular answer when one ring is loved by more than one family member.
Does milgrain wear away over time?
Over many years of daily wear the beading can soften, like any fine detail in gold. Platinum holds milgrain longest, and our workshop can re-cut the beading when it eventually smooths out. It is a maintenance job, not a flaw in the style.
Do vintage-style rings work with wedding bands?
Yes, though detailed shoulders sometimes call for a shaped or curved band to sit flush. We check the pairing at the counter and can make a fitted band at our own workshop if needed. Choosing both rings together, or planning for the band early, avoids surprises.
Why buy a vintage-style ring in Cayman?
The detail work is done at our on-island bench, the diamonds are GIA certified, and jewellery in the Cayman Islands is tax-free with no duty or sales tax. Visitors often save enough against home prices to cover a finer stone. The showroom is a short walk from the George Town cruise pier.
