Is emerald suitable for an engagement ring?

With the right setting and the right expectations. Emerald is softer and more included than sapphire, so an emerald engagement ring wants a protective setting and an owner who takes it off for anything rough. If you want green with everyday durability, a teal or green sapphire is the harder-wearing alternative.

Why do emeralds have inclusions?

Because of how they form. Nearly every natural emerald contains inclusions, and the trade accepts them as part of the stone's character rather than a fault. Colour is what determines value in emerald, far more than clarity.

How should I care for emerald jewellery?

Clean it with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, never an ultrasonic cleaner, which can worsen existing inclusions. Take rings off before anything abrasive. Bring the piece to us periodically and we will check the setting and re-polish it.
