Pink is among the rarest diamond colours in existence and priced accordingly. Supply tightened further after the closure of the mine that produced the majority of the world's pink diamonds, so anything with real saturation is now a sourcing exercise rather than something held in a tray.

Because the colour is the entire value, a pink diamond is usually set as a simple solitaire so nothing competes with it. Where a halo is used it is small white diamonds, which lift the pink by contrast without crowding it.
