Larimar

Larimar Jewelry in Grand Cayman

The Caribbean's own sea-blue stone, in 14-carat and 18-carat gold.

Larimar

The Caribbean Blue of Larimar

Larimar is a pale blue pectolite found in only one place on earth, in the Dominican Republic, which makes it the Caribbean's other single-source stone alongside our own caymanite. Its banded blue and white pattern looks remarkably like water seen from the air.

It is a softer stone, so it belongs in pendants and earrings, or in rings set protectively. Like caymanite and opal it is bought on pattern rather than grade: no two pieces carry the same banding, so the piece you choose is the only one of its kind.

Questions

Good to Know

What is larimar?
Larimar is a pale blue variety of pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, which makes it a single-source Caribbean stone. Its blue and white banding is what gives it the resemblance to shallow water.
Is larimar durable?
It is a softer stone, so it is best in pendants and earrings, or in rings with a protective setting worn with some care. Keep it away from ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
